T.G.I.G.F

Mel Gibson has nothing on the folks of Pilsen! I just saw these pics on the Chicago Tribune Web site, and now I'm glad I worked yesterday.

Reenactments of any ilk freak me out. I still haven't recovered from a Lincoln-Douglas debate I saw in Ottawa, Ill., in 1995.

what's the dominating ethnicity of the area, I wonder? I have just been to Italy and a friend's just been to see family in Spain, and those things are '(easter) business as usual' over there...

Why do they call it Good Friday when that's the day he croaked?

Hardly seems good to me.

Sarah-

Everyday is Good Friday, I'll bet. You win, you win!!!!

Stef-

The hood is predominately Mexican. My neighborhood, and the other large Mexican neighborhood called Little Village have dueling Passion Plays apparently.

T2ed-

I actually sent a work memo that started out by saying "Happy Good Friday!" and then like an hour later I realized how unseemly that was. Good Friday is indeed a misnomer. Unless people were thinking that JC meeting his demise was part of the prophecy of him dying for our sins, a good thing?

And now that I think about it, maybe today is the little known holiday called "Pissed-off Monday". This is when Jesus realized his suffering was all for naught when everyone headed to Vegas once he was up in the clouds.
